Podcast Review

SLS 418 - Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010

Today we were tasked to listen to a podcast from iTunes.  I personally picked learning Spanish from the quick links section under Language Learning.   The screen opens up to a list of podcasts to listen to - I chose Spanish Survival.  Furthermore, the link offers you more options, specifically what context or situation would you like to learn Spanish; I clicked on "Introducing Yourself".  The blog runs for about 10 mins and it was a productive 10 mins.  I learned more than I would have on my own, reading from a book.  The podcast was effective in that the facilitator (male voice) pronounced each phrase or salutation, broke it down into its individual components - como is how , adios - a : preposition, dios : meaning God - put together - go with God; offering them a blessing or simply farewell.  Salutations progressed from introducing yourself in the day time, afternoon and night time and  responses to each greeting.  Its a really cool program.  You should check it out.  There's other languages you can also look up so if you find something that interests you - GO FOR IT...
